Working for HVE, imageflux provided VFX services for The Nun.
Our primary focus was on the climactic scene where the protagonist, Sister Irene, is possessed by the demon Valak. This involved augmenting the shape of the face, augmenting the makeup, modifications to the eyes and teeth, and adding inverted crosses underneath the skin. The techniques employed allowed comp “shortcuts” rather than a full CG face rebuild.
Other sinister acts of VFX included blood-drenched stairs, a vial on a necklace, and spooky tree branches.
