Image Flux teamed up with Verizon 5G Labs, Twitch and Studio G on this cutting-edge streaming experience. Twitch host @StorymodeBae and Grammy-winning artist @Nija stepped onto an extended reality (XR) stage at the 5G Lab in Los Angeles to stream a live, interactive performance on Twitch, powered by the ultra-low latency of 5G.

A show is not a show without a brand. Image Flux styled a unique logo and design system that encapsulates the spirit of the show – futuristic and techy, but also wildly creative. This gave the show a unique look and feel, and spilled into Twitch and Verizon’s promotional material in advance of the live stream.

Image Flux not only branded the show with a unique logo and graphics package, but designed, built and programmed the interactive, real-time virtual XR environment in Unreal Engine and Disguise D3.

Levels features Capitol Records artists, so the inspiration for the virtual environment came from the classic Capitol Records studio in Hollywood, CA. Image Flux digitally scanned this iconic studio, then rebuilt it as a futuristic, living “holodeck” that transforms to create different environments.

During the show, fans had a unique opportunity to impact the performance by interacting with the show in real-time, using Twitch emotes to unlock new levels of her backstory and performance. For a first-of-its-kind level of interactivity, Twitch chat was “scraped” for emotes which fed into the custom Unreal Engine environment and influenced the course of the show.

Each “Level” of musical performance could only be achieved if fans sent enough good vibes in the form of Twitch emotes. This interaction was made as responsive as possible through the use of Verizon’s ultra low-latency 5G network.
